| The Overflow Statement of Faith The Holy Bible : the only Bible, and is the complete Word of God. It alone is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths. It is the inspired, inerrant and infallible Word of the One True and only God. ____________________________________ The Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. There is not one without the other. (1 John 5:7) (Gen 1:26) (Matt 3:16) (Matt 28:19) (Luke 1:35) ____________________________________ The Virgin Birth: God the Father, through the Holy Spirit chose Mary to supernaturally conceive in her womb, His Son Jesus. Mary gave birth naturally, to God's Son Jesus, and Mary and Joseph raised Him as any other child, to be a man (Matt 1:18) (Luke 1:35) (Isa 7:14) (Matt 1:23) (Luke 1:27-35) ____________________________________ Salvation: The blood that Jesus shed on the cross of Calvary was sinless and is totally sufficient to cleanse anyone of all sin. Jesus allowed Himself to be punished for all the sins of all mankind, enabling all those who believe in Him to be free from the penalty of sin, which is death. (1John 1:7) (Rev 1:5) (Rev 5:9) (Col 1:20,23) (John 1:29) ____________________________________ Jesus Christ: He indwells all those who have invited Him to be the Lord of their lives: Accepting what He did for them at the cross, and believing He died and rose from the dead and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father as an advocate for those who believe. (John 1:12) (John 14:17-23) (John 15:4) (Romans 8:11) ____________________________________ Water Baptism: a command from God, and is determined by immersion of the whole person, symbolizing the old man being buried with Christ, and being raised in newness of life, as a new creation. (Matt 28:19) (Mark 16:16) (Acts 2:38) (Acts 8:36-38) ____________________________________ Baptism of the Holy Spirit: A promise to every believer who desires to be empowered with the fire of God to be His witness. To be a witness apart from the power of God would be useless. (Joel 2:28-29) (Matt 3:11) (Book of Acts) Baptism of the Holy Spirit includes the gift of tongues for a spiritual prayer life of communion with God the Father, through the Holy Spirit. This allows the believer to bypass the known with the unknown for the building up of the inner man. ____________________________________ God Gave Gifts: God gave gifts to man under the new blood covenant, through the Holy Spirit. Through these gifts of God comes the responsibility of the church to equip all the saints for the work of the ministry. (Eph 4) The saints are to find their place in the body of Christ, and be given the tools to accomplish the work. (Eph 4:7-16) ____________________________________ Communion of Lord's Supper: As often, even daily if chosen, the believer should eat of His flesh and drink of His blood. This process can be done wherever the believer chooses. To do this by remembering the sacrifice of God's Son Jesus, we see our sins in all of His wounds, with our name on every wound. We also realize that every infirmity, and every disease, was conquered, and provision was freely given to those who believe. (Matt 26:26-29) (1 Cor 10:16) (1 Cor 11:23-25) |
